Southern Rocky Mountains: An Ecoregional Assessment and Conservation Blueprint

Author:
The Nature Conservancy

The Nature Conservancy convened a multi-state team in January, 2000, to compile and analyze biological and ecological data and develop an ecoregional assessment for the SRM. The objective of this assessment was to use a science-based approach to design a portfolio of conservation areas for the SRM that, with proper management, would ensure the long-term persistence of the ecoregion’s species, communities, and ecological systems. The ultimate goal is to conserve the full portfolio of conservation areas identified through this assessment process.
