Black-Tailed Prairie Dog Surveys in Crowley, Otero, Pueblo and Eastern Huerfano Counties, Colorado

Author:
John R. Sovell, CNHP

This research examines the distribution of prairie dogs on BLM property and also collects information on observations of Burrowing Owls, Mountain Plovers, and Triploid Checkered Whiptails, all on the BLM sensitive species list.  Prairie dogs are a keystone species on North American grasslands, and the conservation of prairie dogs may positively impact other sensitive grassland species.
